Sultanbrand (Variety FMC-6) bermudagrass represents the new
generation in the development of seeded turf-type bermudagrasses.
Sultan exhibits superior turf quality compared to older seeded
bermudagrass varieties, producing a turf that is significantly
denser, finer textured, darker green and more uniform. |

should be planted when soil temperatures are consistently above
65º F (18º C). For best results, take a soil sample
and follow recommendations prior to planting. Plant in full
sun on well-drained soil in temperate, sub-tropical and tropical
climates. Care must be taken not to cover the seed with too
much soil; no more than 1/8 inch (3 mm) covering over the seed
is advised. After seeding, soil moisture in the root zone must
be maintained for about 1 to 2 weeks. After the new turf is
established, less frequent, deep watering is desirable. Under
ideal conditions, germination may begin within 7 to 10 days.
Allow 14 to 21 days for completion. Under ideal conditions,
full coverage may be attained in 4 to 6 weeks. More time may
be needed if planting is done early or late in the season. Mowing
may begin approximately 3 weeks after seeding, depending on
conditions at time of establishment. Recommended mowing height
is ½ to 2 inches (12 to 50 mm). Fertilize with ¾
to 1 lb/1,000 sq ft actual N (0.38 to 0.5 kg /100 sq m) per
month of growing season for optimum performance, fertilization
may be reduced by ½ if clippings are returned. |
